Biosensor 2200R

QTL Biosystems, LLC. has developed a detection technique that combines the benefits of solution/suspention phase formats with the simplicity of solid phase/lateral flow assays.

In this approach, the assay is performed in the solution/suspention phase, using magnetic microspheres as a solid capture support.  A magnetic separation is then performed to isolate the bound analyte from the remainder of the solution.  After a wash step is performed internally within the cartridge, the fluorescence signal is directly read from surface-bound analyte.

This technique delivers significant benefits:

- Solution/suspension phase ensures optimum kinetic conditions
     - Fomation of the pellet concentrates the analyte, improving detection sensitivity
     - Dynamic surface generation eliminates non-specific binding associated with lateral flow assay
     - Robustness and simplicity of chemistries can be easily adapted to new bio-threat agents
